About Us
Since 2015, the founders of Agreement Solutions have been working on consensus algorithms and blockchain technologies. During this time, they have led the design of three novel high-performance, crash fault tolerant consensus algorithms and embarked on the development of a simulation environment for enterprise blockchain systems, which are based on such algorithms. Simulation is a powerful tool to predict the behaviour of complex systems and Agreement Solutions is leading the way of bringing simulation to blockchains. We complement our capabilities with a deployment framework, capable of measuring real deployments of various enterprise blockchains. Our data collection framework captures the full scope of behaviour of enterprise blockchains, allowing us to provide our clients with detailed analyses and predictions of their use cases. We have secured an EXIST business startup grant and a follow-up InnorampUp grant from IFB.
The history
Timeline
2015
Designed high performance consensus algorithm DARE
DARE is a novel consensus algorithm based purely on Remote Direct Memory Access.
2016
Designed novel consensus algorithm AllConcur
AllConcur is a novel leaderless consensus algorithm, designed for excellent scalability of crash fault-tolerant consensus.
2017
Formal proof of safety for AllConcur
Both a formal specification and a formal proof of safety for AllConcur, making AllConcur viable even for the most risk-averse use-cases.
2017
Designed a second consensus algorithm AllConcur+
AllConcur+ is an optimistic algorithm, having identical throughput as AllGather (no fault-tolerance) during intervals without failures.
2017
Development of the enterprise blockchain simulator begins
Development of the simulator initially began to evaluate our consensus algorithms efficiently.
2019
Startup funding secured
We secured an EXIST business startup grant from the German government.
2020
Founding of the company
Agreement Solutions GmbH was founded in early 2020.
2020
Reliable simulation model of Hyperledger Fabric established
2021
Follow-up funding secured
We have received an InnorampUp grant from the IFB Hamburg

Founders
and Management
Colin Glass
Co-Founder & CIO
Colin has a PhD from ETH Zürich and is an accomplished academic — his scientific work has been cited over 3500 times. He has been working with distributed systems for over 15 years and among other things, has been developing novel consensus algorithms during the last 5. He is an expert in systems design, modelling, simulation and analysis.
Marius Poke
Co-Founder & CTO
Marius received his PhD in designing high-performance consensus algorithms, with Colin as his supervisor. His interest in Blockchains started in 2014 with designing DARE, a novel RDMA-based consensus algorithm. That was followed by the design of AllConcur/AllConcur+ leaderless consensus algorithms, targeting large-scale systems.
Peter Stein
Co-Founder & Advisory Board Member
Peter is a serial entrepreneur, specialising in business development of science-driven, high-tech startup companies. The companies he has co-founded have eight-digit annual sales, employ over 100 people, operate globally and have won numerous awards including the best startup of Switzerland and best Cleantech startup of Europe. Peter holds a degree in business engineering from ETH Zürich and a Diploma in Technology Entrepreneurship from HSG St. Gallen.
Thomas Puschmann
Advisory Board Member
Thomas Puschmann has spent more than two decades at the nexus of technology and business in both science and business. He currently is Founder and Director of the Swiss FinTech Innovation Lab at the University of Zurich, Head of Switzerland‘s first Green & Sustainable Digital Finance & FinTech Research Initiative, Co-Founder of the Association Swiss FinTech Innovations, Member of the Swiss Innovation Council Innosuisse and President of the Swiss Digital Trade Platform.
Gilbert Fridgen
Advisory Board Member
Prof. Gilbert Fridgen is the Paypal-FNR PEARL Chair in Digital Financial Services at the SnT, the Interdisciplinary Center for Security, Reliability and Trust at the University of Luxembourg. He is also an Adjunct Professor with the Research Center Finance & Information Management at Fraunhofer Project Group Wirtschaftsinformatik and collaborates closely with the Fraunhofer Blockchain Lab.
He served as an expert for multiple governmental bodies, such as the German Bundestag.
